You're probably right about that :-)
Hello from sunny England Bro

I'm not sure if I should look forward to
that pudding or not. LOL. Good to hear from you bro!
Some of his statements are true. However his whole speech is completely retarded. Think, if you agree that religion is the source of evil, do you really believe that people would be generous and love others if there was no religion? What was first egg or chicken? Of course that people would kill, arson, rob and do all the same evil things, it's just that those people who do it want to lie themselves that they are doing it for some greater cause.
No, I'm not religious nor I am islamic, but stating that Islam is a religion of evil shows how retarded and narrow-minded such man is. In reality it's the religion of peace, it is simply greatly deformed nowadays. Islamites are in my opinion stuck socially in about 12 century. They are on the level of christian crusades. Were we better? Tell me, were we better to send thousands of men to murder even more people in the name of God? Can we be forgiven for sending thousands of children on a crusade because those idiots thought that innocent children will be supported by God himself? No we weren't so stop talking bullshit how islam is bad because they kill themselves.
In my opinion religion was created by men and is just a way of explaining things which we don't know but stating that it is the source of evil is so fucking pathetic.
Well, "not agree".
Thx for your comment. I'll give you credit for trying, but I'm afraid you fail to give a very good argument. Wether or not you are a religous person or not, doesn't matter. I am, as I understand Hitchens are, a secularist, and in that respect I do not care what people deside to believe in or not.
But what you try to do with your argument is something I do care about. Because what you suggest is so very wrong and one of the main reasons we have a problem with religions.
The argument that Islam is a religion of peace is a straight forward lie. It might be that like most christians have landed on the conclusion that christianity is about peace and love, a lot of muslims have come to that conclusion to. But if so, they need to say that the mullahs of the world, past and present, is wrong, and disregard a lot of the holy book itself.
The upcoming threats against the Netherlands from the official Islam is a good example, as well as all the cases we have from Rushdie to Mohammed cartoons. If you say something that muslims do not like - they execute violence against you. They do it in the name of Islam, and are supported by the majority of muslims around the world.
Islam was in its beginnings, and still is, an agressive religous movement, and the agressive and evil doings of Islam in the world has its foundation in The Qur'an and its theology carved out by its mullahs through centuries.
If you have read the holy book, you know this. If you have read history, you know this. And if you are updated on the world affairs of today, you know this. In fact, just writing this opinion in my blog opens me for the risk of muslim agression.
You might be a person that think the moderate and secular muslims have got it right. But they are not talking very loud within or outside the Islam world. On the contrary most moderate muslim who appear in the media are reluctant to condem the agressive muslims who dominate the islam world.
What they do is to ask us to respect the islam. If we behave and do not do anything to offend Islam or its founder Mohammed, we will learn that Islam is a peacefull religion. The argument goes in other words like this: We are very peacefull as long as we say, or you do not do anything to offend us. If we use violence against you, it is because you asked for it. It's like a mafia doctrine. It's like saying that the leadership of North Korea or Burma is pro peace and loving - because if you do as they ask of you, they will not use violence.
I'm sorry, but I do not find the definition of peace that relative....
I suggest you read the so called holy book, update yourself on history and start to use the world media to keep up with the news. And I'm not talking about the stupid US Fox News. Just keep yourself informed with as many information sources as possible - including the ones that origins in the Islam world. Then we can have a talk.
That said, I certainly agree with you that religion is man made.
Good thing I saw this. Thanks for posting it.
It's pretty much preaching to the choir, for all I'm concerned, but it's a comfort to hear that others are thinking the same thoughts.
Not that there is any hope to be had whatsoever.
By the way, check my URL link. It's nice to be flattered sometimes.
Hi Sjåstad,
Thx for your comment. There's quite a few of us out there. I can recomend you read Hitchens book "God is not great - how religion poison everything" if you find his speaches conforting.
Thet man spoke well, I did not think that there are so many others who think exactly what I think.
Well, I am from the US and I do not see a drunk commie bastard, I see a very aware, sardonic individual, who happens to enjoy his drink. Just like myself. I discovered this blog recently, and have been looking through it intently. Very good work, comrade, and I will return....
